"Rečnik srpskohrvatskoga književnog jezika" ("Dictionary of the Serbo-Croatian Literary Language") was started in 1967 as a joint venture of Matica srpska and Matica hrvatska (the latter withdrew from the project after completing the third volume) and it was finnished in only 9 years. It has 6 volumes and 143 252 words.
