The aim of this publication, on the one hand, is of a practical nature in that it intends to fill a gap in the series of Oriental languages published in Hungary so far, on the other hand, it aims to arouse both interest and curiosity in Persian, often referred to as "the French of the Orient." The Arabic script of Persian may appear alarming to the layman, but a language comprising only 32 letters, compared to the Chinese script with its seemingly infinite number of characters, should help put aside any worry. The acquisition of a basic knowledge of Persian is by no means more difficult than that of any other language.
The growth in tourism demands a publication of this kind for the visitors travelling to Iran or Afghanistan, especially for people studying and taking up employment. It also meets the claims of those who would like to get a better insight into the ives of the inhabitants of present-day Iran and peoples living within the boundary of ancient Iran. In addition this book may serve as a bridge for the hundreds of students and for experts working from Iran and Afghanistan studying on a cultural exchange basis here in Hungary.

A könyv célja kedvet csinálni a „Kelet franciája”-ként aposztrofált nyelvhez, a perzsához. A kezdő számára a perzsa nyelv – arab betűs írása miatt – riasztónak tűnhet. Azonban a 32 írásjel – összevetve a kínai írás „végtelen” ideogrammáival – nem indokolja ezt az aggodalmat. Alapfokon a nyelv elsajátításának nehézségi foka az angolhoz mérhető, hasonló módon építkezik. Kiejtése könnyen elsajátítható, a magyar fülnek nem idegen.
Az utazás teljes szabadsága is követelményként állítja elénk a könyv megjelentetését, mivel a célnyelv országaiba utazó magyar turista és az ott munkát vállaló vagy tanuló segítségére lehet. Másrészt az élénkülő kulturális cserekapcsolatok keretében hazánkba érkező és több-kevesebb időt itt töltő több száz iráni és afgán főiskolai, egyetemi hallgató, valamint iráni szakember, kereskedő számára is megkönnyítheti a beilleszkedést.
