This is one of my favorite books, in spite of its flaws and occasional musty expression in German. It facilitates one of the most exciting activities in the world, which is of course - reading classical Arabic poetry. So, I've read it backwards, forwards, top downwards, bottom upwards -- from any angle it offers "die rechte Beleuchtung" (page IV)!

I stumbled across this one several days ago and I thought I should share it here.

If your Egyptian dialect is in the beginning stages, it will give you a gentle introduction with a lot of cultural info.
If your abilities are advanced, it will allow you to hone in onto some details without much effort.

Either way, it's one of the better FSI-style productions (some are abysmal). and there are few books in the field worth keeping (usually one outgrows the basic dialect books quickly, but this one is a keeper).
