"The Wind in the Willows" by Kenneth Grahame is loved and recognized in the whole world. Seeing what is available for downloading in the net, I thought it would be injustice not to include there a book with marvelous illustrations by E.H. Shepard. For your information, Kenneth Grahame did not allow to illustrate his book for a long time and rejected any proposals, and only having seen Shepard's sketches he exclaimed: "I am glad you've managed to make them alive!". So Ernest Shepard came to be the first authorized illustrator of "The Wind in the Willows". Then there was a succession of nice works by Patrick Benson, Inga Moore and others, but Shepard is considered to be the first and the best among them.

This book was made by myself. I searched through the net and downloaded the pictures of Ernest Shepard, carefully added them to the plain text, formatted the book and saved it as PDF-file. Finally I downloaded audio files, optimized them and embedded into the book. To start playback, you just need to click on the blue icon of the loudspeaker next to the name of each chapter. This is my second publication in the series "Talking Book" after "Nußknacker und Mausekönig" by E.T.A. Hoffmann (in German).

Книгу "Ветер в ивах" Кеннета Грэхэма любят и знают во всём мире. Видя то, что имеется для скачивания в сети, я подумал, что будет несправедливо не включить сюда книгу с чудесными иллюстрациями Э.Шепарда. Для Вашей информации, Кеннет Грэхэм долгое время не разрешал иллюстрировать свою книгу и отвергал любые предложения, и, лишь увидев эскизы Шепарда, он воскликнул "Я рад, что Вам удалось оживить их!". Таким образом Эрнест Шепард стал первым законным иллюстратором книги "Ветер в ивах". После этого были прекрасные рисунки Патрика Бенсона, Инги Моор и других, но Шепард считается первым и лучшим среди них.

Данную книгу я смастерил сам. Я нашёл в интернете и скачал рисунки Эрнеста Шепарда, добавил их к обычному тексту, отформатировал книгу и сохранил её как pdf-файл. Наконец я скачал аудио-файлы, оптимизировал их и внедрил их в книгу. Чтобы начать воспроизведение, нужно щёлкнуть по синему значку динамика, стоящему после названия каждой главы. Это моя вторая публикация в серии "Говорящая Книга" после "Щелкунчика" Э.Т.А. Хоффмана (на немецком языке). Надеюсь, Вам понравится!
